PCM Programming service for your engine swap project or stock vehicle.
I program all swap PCMs to remove anti-theft system that will cause a “start and die” condition. Sometimes this is referred to as VATS. I enable cooling fans for all swap applications, and change fan on and off temperatures. I can adjust for different injector size depending on if I have the data for them. I can program for different transmission options as well.
NOTE: I WILL NOT be able to offer custom tunes for modified engines. (aftermarket cam, boost, heads etc)
I do not lock any PCM I program, and will be compatible with popular tuning software after I am done.
You can select the payment option for your application below, but please be sure to view additional info for your application on the right, and read on below the services for details I need for programming for swaps. Write down info include with PCM, or email it to me please.

I have gotten a lot of questions asking if I was still doing programming. The answer is YES, I have not stopped doing programming, nor do I plan to at all. This is my full time job. LT1SWAP.COM was created in 2002. 20 years later I’m still here! Thanks, Brendan – 1/4/2023

Any programming that requires factory gm VIN programming will be $50 additional. (stock vehicle trans segment swaps sometimes, replacement pcms for stock vehicles, some E38/E40/E67 Gen4 engine swaps) I sometimes may not know this is needed until doing the programming. This is usually ONLY an issues when doing a transmission segment swap on your STOCK vehicle, or if you are sending a PCM to replace one on your STOCK vehicle and require specific VIN programming. Most all stock engine/transmission swap applications I would not need to do factory VIN programming. **factory VIN programming means I use a GM Subscription and GM Hardware to program your PCM to 100% factory software for a VIN# to get the required starting tune for whatever I’m doing for you. GM recently changed policy and now requires a per VIN# charge.**
2004-2011 Ford F150 4.6L and 5.4L engines with Cam Phaser Lockouts installed see this page for programming info!
*2007 was a change over year. Early production was a Gen3 engine in the “classic body style truck” 2007.5 was a Gen4 engine in the “new body style for 07”. BASIC INFORMATION I NEED FOR SWAP PROGRAMING
- Engine Type & Year: Please let me know if PCM does not match the engine exactly. GM used different injector sizes, fuel rail types etc across engine’s and years. It’s important for best performance to know exactly what the engine is. Also, if you plan to swap intakes from another engine (LS1 intake on a 5.3L vortec) I NEED TO KNOW THIS. Supplying an 8 digit injector number found on side of each injector will always help insure correct flow rate is programmed into the PCM.
- For 99-07 4.8/5.3/6.0 Find lots of important details here: How to identify my engine
- Engine Type & Year: (LS 4.8/5.3/6.0 LS Engines: Is your fuel rail a returnless type, (using corvette regulator) or does it have a vacuum referenced fuel pressure regulator? What is the injector part# for 99-14 4.8/5.3/6.0 see here for details…)
- 4.8/5.3/6.0 LS Engines: Is your throttle electronic? (DBW – Drive By Wire) or is it mechanical (DBC – Drive By Cable)
- Transmission Type & Year: I can disable automatic trans diagnostics if you wish to use a TH350, TH400, 700R4 ect. Please read on below for info about the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Also please let me know if you will run a MANUAL transmission, this is to ensure proper idle control. Some engine / trans combinations were not offered from GM every year. I can also do segment swaps if your setup is a combination never offered from GM, some additional local tuning maybe required to get everything “just right” for idle behavior with manual trans. A good example would be a drive by cable 2003+ truck engine with manual trans.
- Rear Axle Ratio/Tire Size-Height: When using electronic transmission, this info is only needed if you need a calibrated speed sensor signal output to run a stock type speedometer. I can program the PCM in most cases to output the proper speed signal to use the stock speedometer in 88+ GM Trucks, Jeeps, etc, about anything with electronic speedo from factory. Most of the aftermarket speedometers are programmable, and the output from the PCM does not need to be exact.
- Is this an Engine Swap, or original Engine/Vehicle? (some things I disable in the computer has to do with the PCM communication with other devices in the original vehicle. If PCM is staying in original vehicle, its important I know this.)
- Air Conditioning You have some options for A/C on your swap, see this page, does get technical.
- Mass Air Flow Sensors (MAF can be removed from most vehicles if required, however I recommend using it if at all possible to improve drivability) LT1 vehicles had two different size mass airflow sensors. The Caprice and Camaro units are different size. Also 98-02 Camaro/Trans Am LS1 used a 3 wire sensor. Truck 4.8,5.3,6.0 all used a 5 wire sensor. Yet there is also a difference between Truck and VAN 4.8,5.3,6.0’s. So if picking parts from different applications, keep this in mind, and LET ME KNOW, programming is different for each type of mass airflow sensor. I can also adjust for LS3 card style MAF (may require local fine tuning)
- Emission Controls If you have any questions about emission controls and how to keep them functional on your swap, please email me.
- Cooling Fan Controls I enable cooling fan control on ALL SWAP programming with basic on/off points based on stock engine thermostat temps. It will not hurt a thing to have the control there, but not used. If you use a lower then stock thermostat, let me know and I will adjust the temperatures accordingly. PCM Supplies GROUND to activate fan relays, MUST us a relay. (1996 4.3/5.0/5.7/7.4 PCM’s DO NOT support FAN CONTROL)
- VSS – If using a non electronic trans such as TH350, TH400 or a manual trans, you should KEEP a vehicle speed sensor when possible. The PCM needs to know if vehicle is moving. Without the speed sensor, you can suffer from reduced fuel economy, reduced power, and idle problems. There are a few options for speed sensors on the transmissions with cable drive output. View this link at Dakota Digital website. I have used Dakota Digital SEN-01-4160 with good success. This is a 8000 pulse per mile sensor, that will allow cable speedometer hookup. (SEN-01-4160 WILL NOT WORK WITH DRIVE BY WIRE CRUISE CONTROL, Dakota Digital SEN-01-128 should work for DBW cruise.) I can program most any PCM to accept any # of speed pulses. Also check out www.jagsthatrun.com for other speed sensor options. (Must output a SINE wave signal, or A/C Voltage) With a TH350, TH400, or manual transmission, it really doesn’t matter where the speed sensor is located or the # of pulses, just so PCM knows vehicle is moving, as stated above. Keep in mind I need to know # of pulses and tire size/gear ratio when programming.
- ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSIONS such as 4L60E or 4L80E – It can get tricky with 4×4’s and electronic transmissions. GM applications with 4×4’s always put the speed sensor on the OUTPUT of the transfer case. Then there is a signal to the PCM to tell it when you are in a LOW range, so it can adjust the shift points. (shift points are based on MPH in all GM computers) If you use a LT1 engine, there IS NOT an option for low range input and you must have speed sensor located between the transmission and the transfer case. There are aftermarket companies that offer an adaptor that fits the sensor in this location. Anytime you use an electronic transmissions (4l60e, 4l80e) it is best to keep the factory 40 pulse per driveshaft revolution speed signal. It is possible to use the above listed SEN-01-4160 but that would require the drive/driven tooth count of your speedo gears. Check Novak Conversions or Advanced Adapters for information on adapting transfer cases to 4L60E and other transmissions. These adaptors include a speed sensor.
